AA Sectrophoto meter

AA Sectrophoto meter

AA Spectrophotometer stands for Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. It's a highly sensitive analytical instrument used to determine the concentration of specific elements in a sample. This is achieved by measuring the absorption of light by atoms of the element of interest.

Description

How Does it Work?

  1. Atomization: The sample is introduced into a flame or graphite furnace, where it is heated to a high temperature. This process converts the elements in the sample into their gaseous, atomic state.
  2. Light Source: A hollow cathode lamp, specific to the element being analyzed, emits light of a wavelength that is absorbed by the atoms of that element.
  3. Absorption: When the light passes through the atomized sample, the atoms of the element of interest absorb some of the light. The amount of absorption is directly proportional to the concentration of the element in the sample.
  4. Detection: The remaining light is detected by a photomultiplier tube or other suitable detector.
  5. Measurement: The instrument calculates the concentration of the element based on the amount of light absorbed.
