Din Abrasion Resistance Tester

Din Abrasion Resistance Tester

The Din Abrasion Resistance Tester is a device used to measure the resistance of fabrics to abrasion. It simulates the wear and tear that fabrics experience during normal use, such as rubbing against other materials or being subjected to friction

Description

How it works:

  1. Sample Preparation: A fabric sample is securely clamped into the tester.
  2. Abrasive Wheel: An abrasive wheel, often made of worsted wool, is placed against the fabric sample.
  3. Rubbing Action: The abrasive wheel is then rotated back and forth, applying a controlled amount of pressure to the fabric. This simulates the rubbing action that occurs during wear.
  4. Duration: The test is typically conducted for a specified number of cycles or until a predetermined level of abrasion is observed.
  5. Evaluation: After the test, the fabric sample is visually inspected to assess the extent of abrasion, such as pilling (the formation of small, fuzzy balls) or snagging (when fibers catch and pull out of the fabric)
