Pilling Assesment Viewer

Pilling Assesment Viewer

A Pilling Assessment Viewer (PAV) is a specialized piece of equipment used in the textile industry to evaluate the pilling of fabrics. Pilling is the formation of small balls of fiber on the surface of a fabric due to friction and wear

Description

Key Features:

  • Light source: Typically uses CIE D65 artificial daylight to simulate standard viewing conditions.
Viewing area: Provides a clear and consistent background for examining the fabric.
  • Magnification: Often includes a magnifying lens for detailed inspection of pills.
  • Compliance: Adheres to relevant international standards such as ISO 12945.

How it Works:

The fabric sample is placed in the viewing area under the specified light source. The observer carefully examines the fabric for the presence and severity of pilling, comparing it to standard pilling images or reference samples. The pilling level is then assessed based on established criteria.
